1% Challenge™ You Can Do This!

15 Minutes a Day with God's Word

How You Spend that Time can Change Your Life

1% of Your Day is 14 Minutes and 24 Seconds
(For the sake of the Kingdom, let’s round that up to 15 minutes.)

15 minutes each day spent in God’s presence – reading, reflecting, responding and resting with his Word – adds up to 90 hours in one year.  That is time well spent, and a testimony to how a little at a time turns into something remarkable!

  • My secret is a simple one: I pray.

    St. Teresa of Calcutta
  • My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.

    John 10:27-29
  • God’s word is unpredictable in its power.

    Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium, 22
  • Go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

    Mathhew 6:6

How?

What Should I do for 15 Minutes?

Pick up a Bible, starting with the Gospels, and . . . .

Read. Reflect. Respond. Rest.

Trust in these four basic components of the time-tested, saint-recommended, ever-ancient, ever-new way of prayerfully reading Scripture: lectio divina.

We must train people to read and meditate on the Word of God: this must become their staple diet.

Pope Benedict XVI, Inaugural Address of the Fifth General Conference of the Bishops of Latin America and the Caribbean, Aparecida, Brazil
