With Jesus to the Cross, Year C
On the night before he died, Jesus made this promise to his disciples: “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (John 8:31-32).
With Jesus to the Cross makes it easy to dive into the Lenten Sunday Mass readings. Gather a small group weekly to discuss them, or consider the thought-provoking questions on your own. This guide includes every-thing you need to lead a small group as a facilitator or to follow the study as an individual.
The Church teaches us that God speaks to us through his word: “In the sacred books, the Father who is in heaven meets His children with great love and speaks with them” (Dei Verbum, 21). Prepare to hear from the Lord this Lent and to fully experience the joy of the resurrection this Easter!

Each of the six sessions features a scene about Jesus and his followers, followed by a series of questions, meant to help participants begin to reflect more deeply about their relationship with Jesus. An “Encountering Christ This Week” section provides additional Scripture passages to encourage readers to spend at least fifteen minutes each day in personal prayer.
Detailed facilitator guides are included for each session as well as other appendices that put the Scriptures in a historical-cultural context, teach participants how to pray, provide discussion guidelines for small groups, and encourage the celebration of the sacraments.

6-Week Small Group Scripture Discussion Guide
When people meet the real Jesus in Scripture, lives change, hearts heal, and the grace and power of our baptism is unleashed to make us “ambassadors for Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:20).
When people “chew” on the word of God through dynamic discussions of the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit reveals the person of Jesus. That’s why the staff of The Evangelical Catholic ministry created this guide—to encourage everyone, no matter where they are in their spiritual life, to have a personal encounter with Jesus.
The six sessions in Believe: Meeting Jesus in the Scriptures focus on episodes when Jesus changed people’s lives. The questions that follow are designed to spark discussion and allow each person to consider how the story applies to his or her own life. Weekly spiritual exercises between sessions help participants meet Christ in both prayer and the sacraments. Also included are detailed “how-to” guides for both facilitators and participants.

6-Week Small Group Scripture Discussion Guide
If we want to know who Jesus is, then we have to discover what his friends said and wrote about him. We can find detailed accounts of Jesus’ life—including the signs and wonders he performed—in the Gospels. They show us what Jesus cared about, how he treated people, and what he thought was most important in life. What better way to explore who Jesus is, or deepen the relationship we already have with him, than to reflect on these accounts?
The Evangelical Catholic ministry created this guide to encourage everyone, even if they are not believers, to have a personal encounter with Jesus in the Scriptures. The six sessions include some of the most dramatic Gospels episodes: the wedding at Cana, Jesus walking on water, and the raising of the little girl who had died. The questions that follow spark discussion in small groups or thoughtful consideration for readers, allowing each person to come to a deeper understanding of Jesus—and why people choose to follow him.

The Way invites individuals and groups to reflect upon the heart and habits of discipleship with Scripture, discussion questions, and prompts for spiritual exercises.
In Part 1, we reflect on the call to know God as friend, savior, and source of all life through Jesus Christ. In six sessions, we discuss how to nurture this friendship in prayer and in Scripture.

One-on-One Discussion Guides
Disciples are made one person at a time. Books in our One-on-One series help someone share with another how to walk closely with Christ. The Catholic Church calls this an “apprenticeship” and “initiatory catechesis.” The one who seeks Jesus learns how to find him through witness, prayer experiences, and knowledge of the spiritual practices and attitudes of a Catholic disciple.

The good news is that we are not on our own. Through Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the many gifts in the Church, God loves us, heals us, rescues us, and transforms us. But he doesn’t stop there: he sends us—equipped and not alone—to spread the good news all around us.
Nextstep is a multimedia experience of stories, witnesses, and teachings guiding you step-by-step into a closer relationship with Jesus through balanced, practical, and inspiring reflections.
